CREATE A CLOTHING LINE FOR MAKETTO 1351 FROM Scratch TO LAUNCH
-
Create a merch clothing line that heralds Maketto’s cornerstone approaches to the culture of DC — food, retail, and coffee. In order to design around these tenets, intimate study and research was required in order to produce deliverables in a way that was both substantial and meaningful — all while being produced 100% start to finish in the United States of America.

M.O.P. were established locally in DC to oversee the run’s health. The need was to create everything within reach so, should anything go wrong, it could be ameliorated effectively and quickly.
We used a lot of what was already retained within the walls of Maketto. We immortalized long-time staff members by placing them on garments to show respect for them (with permission release of course), featured fan-favorite dishes, and star-powered aesthetic beverages like the vegan Maketto Mocha. Looking inward at what already existed and hoisting with an effective, diligent production schedule were the keys to project success
“We have food at home.”

Maketto needed to be showcased as a staple of DC’s current cultural output. With notable dishes, multiple awards, incredible press — a lot of the work was done priori to launch. This meant that the collateral needed to be made in a way that showed reverence for DC’s multitudes. We executed this by starting with two very noticeable landmarks and one neighborhood locale — Georgetown.
Patrons were able to identify with that “iykyk” marketing facet — realizing that this was a collection made for DC, with an equal amount of respect to it.
